Water Resources Department- Guidelines

Central Water Commission (CWC) Guidelines

One of the important functions assigned to CWC is to advise the River Basin states in India to follow certain guidelines in respect of quality control, material Specifications and maintenance in order to ensure the implementation of works and maintenance thereof, to proper standards.

In this regards the CWC published updated guidelines on January 2014 which is used extensively used by Water Resources Department for preparation, implementation and maintenance of project in Assam.

FMP Guidelines

Devastation by Flood and erosion is a recurrent annual phenomenon in India Almost every year, some or other part of the country is affected by floods. Accordingly projects were taken up in order to mitigate such floods and erosion under Flood Management Program. The competent authority in respect of quality control, material Specifications and maintenance in order to ensure the implementation of works and maintenance thereof, to proper standards, has published certain guidelines which are periodically reviewed and updated.                                                                           

NEC Guidelines

The North Eastern Council which was set up as Regional Advisory Body under the North Eastern Council Act 1971 was transformed into a Regional Planning Body by the 2002 amendment. Accordingly the Council should formulate specific projects and schemes for North Eastern Region. The competent authority in respect of quality control, material Specifications and maintenance in order to ensure the implementation of works and maintenance thereof, to proper standards, has published certain guidelines which are periodically reviewed and updated.

NLCPR Guidelines

The North East Region has essentially depended on Central funding for development works. Despite the facts that the per-capita plan outlays of the NE states over a period has increased yet states still rank significantly below the national average in so far as the development of infrastructure is concerned. In the Year 1998-99, the union budget approved the proposal for fund under Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources. Accordingly the competent authority in respect of quality control, material Specifications and maintenance in order to ensure the implementation of works and maintenance thereof, to proper standards, has published certain guidelines which are periodically reviewed and updated.

These guidelines are extensively used by Water Resources Department for preparation, implementation and maintenance of project in Assam.
