Economics & Statistics - Function & Activities

Primary function of the DEPUTY DIRECTOR’s office is to assist the Headquarter in data collection, conducting census/surveys. The District level Offices are empowered to collect information regarding functions and activities as well as the status of implementation of various developmental activities works executed by the Line Department offices functioning in the District. Besides assisting the District Administration in various activities, this office acts as the convener of the District and Sub-Divisional Crop Forecast Committee Meetings at their respective jurisdictions. District Hand Book, District at a Glance and District Socio-Economic Review are the three important annual publications published by the District offices focusing the socio-economic scenario of a District. Sub Inspector of Statistics [SIS] posted in the CD Blocks are under the administrative control of the District Officers. Collection, maintenance and updation of Block Profile by incorporating information on implementation of various schematic development activities performed within the CD Blocks jurisdiction, maintenance and updating of Village Index Register and Block Information Register, are the primary functions to be discharged by SIS. These activities are performed by the Block Level Sub-Inspectors under direct supervision of the District Officers.
