Basic Marketing Infrastructure for Agricultural Produce (Post Harvest Management)

The district has no sufficient rural godowns and onion storage facility at door step of farmers. However, one cold storage, at Tezpur is in functioning for storing of farmers produce. There are 13 main markets and 23 sub-markets in the district.

The economy of the district centers around agriculture. Paddy is the predominant commodity that is cultivated three times (winter/ Autumn/Summer) on 77,590 ha, 9,276 Ha and 15,925 hectares of land respectively. The other important crops of the district are pulses, oilseeds, sugarcane, vegetable & potato.
